DESCRIPTION :

You want the 1541 Device Saving behaviour to be the same as the Commodore 64.  Either saving does not occur to the currently-inserted disk or you are prompted if you wish to save modified disk image (D64) file contents when you change the currently-insert disk.

CAUSE :

You have the 1541 Device Saving option set to either Ask At Disk-Change (which is default) or Disabled.

SOLUTION :

You need to set the 1541 Device Saving option to Continuously, in order for the 1541 Device Saving behaviour to be as per the original Commodore 64 machine.

Press the F9 key, to enter in to the textual menu, then go in to the Options sub-menu, and then under the 1541 Emulation section, set the Saving option to Continuously, in the normal manner.  By default, this option is set to Ask At Disk-Change.
